A DEXA exam is a safe non-invasive procedure used to determine bone mass or bone mineral density (BMD) or bone mass. You will be asked to lie perfectly still on a table while a movable X-ray arm passes over the area being tested. Determiningg bone mineral denisty is useful in evaluating the risk of fracture.
